Mark A. Sommer was born September 12, 1957 in Dallas, Texas. In 1981, he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. He continued at the University of North Texas and obtained a Master of Business Administration in Real Estate in 1983. Since that time, Mr. Sommer has completed real estate courses through the Southern Methodist University Costa Institute, Commercial Investment Real Estate Council, and the Institute of Real Estate Management. Mr. Sommer is also a graduate of Leadership Richardson, which is dedicated to the development of community leaders.
Mr. Sommer joined Beltway in 1982 and is a founding partner in Beltway Commercial Real Estate and a partner in a substantial portion of Beltway’s portfolio. His responsibilities and activities include the acquisition and development of commercial real estate investments for Beltway’s long-term ownership, overseeing the leasing and management of all Beltway properties, and providing services to Beltway clients. Mr. Sommer is a founding partner and Director of Emergent Construction Technologies, an industrial and commercial construction company, and founding partner and Director of SJS Hammerhead, a developer and distributor of Hammerhead Paintball gun barrels and accessories. Mr. Sommer was a founding partner in Chamberlain’s Steak and Chop House in Addison, Texas, (named in its first year of operations as one of the “Best New Restaurants in America” by Bon Appetit Magazine), and is currently a founding partner in Melter’s Restaurant and the Jordan Restaurant Group.
Mr. Sommer is a member of the Commercial Investment Real Estate Council, Institute of Real Estate Management, and the Greater Dallas Association of Realtors. Mr. Sommer has achieved the professional designations of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and Certified Property Manager (CPM) and is licensed in the state of Texas as a Real Estate Broker.
Some of Mr. Sommer's current civic activities include serving as President of the Board of Directors for the Denton County Fresh Water Supply District 1-B, the Board of Directors for the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and co-founder, past chairman and current board member of the Castle Hills Business Association.
